As students start to make their way back into their classrooms those attending Tamworth Public School will see new developments taking shape. Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson said the upgrade is progressing well with the new hall taking shape. Work is also about to begin on the second floor of a new classroom block and the refurbishment of the former teacher’s cottage. “The school will have seven brand new classrooms and by the end of the year, students should be holding their end-of-year assembly in their brand new hall," Mr Anderson said. “This is great news for the students, parents and friends of Tamworth Public. "It has been a difficult time for everyone at Tamworth Public and all our schools, with the COVID-19 outbreak." Mr Anderson said everyone in the Tamworth electorate knows times are tough for the community at the moment. "That’s why it is absolutely crucial we continue to invest in our education system, not only to ensure our kids have access to the best possible resources but also to provide them with normality and stability as we work our way back to full-time face to face teaching in the classroom," he said. “I want to thank Tamworth Public School Principal Chris Connor for his coordination of this exciting project including the environmental improvements." Mr Anderson also thanked local contractors for their work during this difficult time. He added that it’s been very important that building and construction have been allowed to continue as this industry has been the base for helping to keep people in jobs and keeping our economy going. The multimillion-dollar redevelopment is still on track to be finished in mid-2020. “I pay tribute as well to staff from all the schools in our region for their work in preparing and delivering online classes and content and for keeping their schools open in this difficult time," he said. "Your efforts are amazing."
